    Hello Aigrette,

    this picture was taken on 20th June, 2007, at Ascot horse races.

    As far as I know, it was the only time that Camilla has worn this brooch (at least publicly) - which is a real pity, as the brooch is absolutely splendid. I would love to see it worn again!

    Unfortunately, I have no precise information about this brooch and its history, and I do not think that anyone on this board was able to solve the mystery in 2007. We do not know if it was an inheritance from the Queen Mother, or one of Camilla's personal jewels, or a private/official gift...

    I think we can exclude costume jewellery (I do not think that Camilla uses such "jewels"... especially for a very royal and high-society event such as Royal Ascot!). A loaned jewel seems highly unprobable too (Camilla has enough jewels at her disposal and does not need to borrow jewels from jewellers).

    The central stone could be either a citrine or an imperial topaz (i.e. a yellow/orange topaz).
