I remember it well and believe that was the only time we have seen the brooch. We never solved its origins. --Previous Message-- : Hello Aigrette, : : this picture was taken on 20th June, 2007, : at Ascot horse races. : : As far as I know, it was the only time that : Camilla has worn this brooch (at least : publicly) - which is a real pity, as the : brooch is absolutely splendid. I would love : to see it worn again! : : Unfortunately, I have no precise information : about this brooch and its history, and I do : not think that anyone on this board was able : to solve the mystery in 2007. We do not know : if it was an inheritance from the Queen : Mother, or one of Camilla's personal jewels, : or a private/official gift... : : I think we can exclude costume jewellery (I : do not think that Camilla uses such : "jewels"... especially for a very : royal and high-society event such as Royal : Ascot!). A loaned jewel seems highly : unprobable too (Camilla has enough jewels at : her disposal and does not need to borrow : jewels from jewellers). : : The central stone could be either a citrine : or an imperial topaz (i.e. a yellow/orange : topaz). : : Here are more pictures from this beautiful : brooch (the close-up were probably posted on : this board by Tamara, I think): : : : : : :
