Its lovely. It reminds me of late 18th early 19th century jewels. We tend to forget that many old pieces were set in yellow gold and crosses were very popular in that period. --Previous Message-- : Thank you for the pictures, Arthur. Great to : see such close-ups. : : I don´t know what to think of this : demi-parure. The sapphires seem to disappear : in the modern yellowish setting, and the : ´cross´in the end is rather awkward. In my : opinion not a very successful necklace. : : Is anything known about the history of this : piece? A Middle Eastern gift possibly? : : --Previous Message-- : Here are larger pictures of the Princess : Royal's sapphire and diamond necklace and : earrings, during the dinner hosted by the : Governor General of Canada at Rideau Hall, : his official residence in Ottawa, on 10th : November 2014. : : We can also notice that Princess Anne is : wearing a bejewelled poppy brooch. : : All pictures are by Denis Drever, for : Canadian Heritage, on whose Flickr webpage I : found these pictures: : : : https://www.flickr.com/photos/canadianheritage-patrimoinecanadien/sets/72157648744077297/?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=fr&utm_campaign= : : : : : : : : : :
