India Diamond Emerald Necklace of Queen Alexandra Queen Mary broke up this piece and made a rope of pearl and emerald beads, which she wore, before giving them to Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, her daughter-in-law, as a wedding gift in 1935. http://blog.royal-magazin.de/england/queen-alexandra/india-necklace-alexandra.htm Alice, Duchess Gloucester The diamond, pearl and emerald demi-parure which was the gift of Queen Mary. The diamond tiara in the foreground was the gift of the bridegroom, HRH the Duke of Gloucester, while item on the right is a grenade-shaped table cigarette lighter, one of a pair given by the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret of York and Viscount Lascelles and the Hon. Gerald Lascelles (the nieces and nephews of the groom). The diamond, pearl and emerald demi-parure consisted of five pieces: a cabochon emerald and diamond scroll brooch with 3 diamond and emerald drops, two pearl and emerald bead necklaces with large emerald drops (which were created from the Indian suite presented to Princess Alexandra of Denmark by Queen Victoria as a wedding gift), and two diamond and emerald bracelets of differing designs (one with six square emeralds in diamond clusters, while the other has twelve square emeralds set in diamonds). http://blog.royal-magazin.de/england/hochzeits-geschenk.htm
