I do not have any proof of the fact that the necklace worn by the Duchesses of Gloucester (Alice and Birgitte) was made from the dismantled Indian necklace of Queen Alexandra. This information relies on Ursula's website and on Leslie Field (but I rather strongly trust them, unless proven otherwise). The emerald beads in the Gloucester necklace are of irregular shape, which could be a clue (but not a proof) of an Indian origin. Birgitte, the current Duchess of Gloucester, had the pearls and emerald beads of the necklace restrung years ago: the emerald beads are all now on one single string, alternating with pearls, whereas the top and bottom strings are now only-pearls: Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester (L) and Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester attend a gala pre-wedding dinner held at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park on April 28, 2011 in London, England (April 27, 2011 - Source: Matthew Lloyd/Getty Images Europe).
