    Airgette,

Could you zoom up 1st picture so it would be better to see details close up (esp. earrings and the tiara)? (would be nice for the other pictures also)

Thanks a bunch for showing us these pictures.

: I thought I might start a new thread: looking
: at the jewels of Queen Adelaide. We know
: that most of her jewels were remakings of
: Queen Charlotte's diamonds, most of which
: went back to Hannover in the 1850s. She also
: had some jewels of her own: notably a pearl
    : necklace.
: But in the picture below we can see a
: necklace that probably is the fringe
    : necklace, discussed Roberts p 28:
    :
    :
: In it we can also see a tiara, grianodle
: earrings, a ruby brooch, and a ruby
    : bracelet.
    :
: In this painting, by Simpson, we can see the
: diamond diadem: , as well as the crown she
: had commissioned for her coronation. On her
: wrists are bracelets with the painting on
: one side and cypher of Williams IV on the
: other: these were worn, for example by the
: Queen Mother at her coronation.
    :
: This painting shows Adelaide in unknown
: jewellery: the tiara with pearl spikes may
: be German in origin, as this style was
: typical on the continent [e.g. the original
: lovers's knot pearl drop tiara]; the pearls
: could speculatively be the Hanoverian or
: Queen Anne, Queen Caroline pearls, in any
: combination, but this is not sure. The
: brooch the current Queen wears was
: originally a clasp, but to this string of
    : pearls?
    :
: The next painting I have is this one: ,
: which is entitled 'Her Majesty the Queen
: Dowager', presumably dating from after
: Victoria's succession. Again the bracelet
: with her husband's cameo can be seen, as can
: a two strand of pearls. Her tiara and the
: other jeweled image / brooch on her other
: sleeve are unknown to me.
    :
: Does any one have any knowledge or interest
: in this queen? It would be fascinating to
: see what we can unearth.
