This evening (11 March 2015), Queen Elizabeth II hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to mark the conclusion of the "Moving Music" campaign and the long association of conductor Michael Tilson Thomas with the London Symphony Orchestra.
On this occasion, the Queen wore a brooch which was seen once, a few years ago, during a State visit of the Queen to Turkey in May 2008, but whose origin is not identified.

What strikes me is that, on these last two pictures, the brooch has not the usual glitter of "real" diamonds. It looks like it is made of cristal sequins embroidered on the gown. And we can also notice that, on both occasions, this brooch was worn with the same dress... Could it be that this brooch is costume jewellery, and sewn on the dress fabric? Very unusual for Queen Elizabeth II...
