Dear all, Dear Beth, thank you for your support. Indeed I would have like Ursula to give my name on her site for this information...However, I have to remind you that we have no proof about it ....no official comment of this brooch ! Anyway, This diamond brooch is very staggering ! The central diamond must be between 5 and 10 carats ! This brooch seems to be among her biggest diamond brooches ; we have : - the cullinan III and IV brooch ; (94.4 carats and 63.6 carats) - The Queen Victoria's fringe brooch (26 1/2 carats) ; - The Queen's Williamson diamond brooch (23.6 carats) ; - The Cullinan V brooch (18.8 carats) ; - The cullinan VI and VII brooch ( 11.5 carats and 6.8 carats) ; - and this brooch - around 5 carats ? Last but not least the Duchess of Cornwall has worn this week the Faberge lily of the Valley brooch. a jewel from the royal family...it is very infrequent currently ! Franck --Previous Message-- : Thankyou GillW for this interesting : discussion & thankyou to Nellie for : pointing out Ursula`s article, I had not : seen that one before either. Well it seems : most likely that the three central : emerald-cut diamonds in the box are the ones : presented to Princess Elizabeth in 1947. : (Thankyou to Franck & Ursula for these : facts) What makes it so facinating to me is : why have we not spotted this brooch before : 2014 or have the diamonds just sat in their : box all these years, only to be made into a : brooch in more recent years? The ends of : the brooch are cetainly a half-moon shape in : keeping with the original idea but not : diamonds as large as in the box. I wonder if : the two half moon diamonds will turn up as : part of another jewel or have they already : been used?? : : : : : : :
