I still find it extremely strange that The Queen would give a wedding gift brooch to Camilla. When in our collective memories, has this ever happened??? --Previous Message-- : It is most unusual of The Queen to give - : usually a loan - of a Wedding Gift brooch - : to a member of her family. : : --Previous Message-- : Dear all, : : Please note that I have found an other : mystery concerning the turquoise and : shamrock brooch given by the Dowager Duchess : of Portland. : : Our fellow poster Arthur raised the question : few months ago. Please find below his post : : : : : http://members2.boardhost.com/royal-jewels/msg/archive/1412290190.html : : I have seen a better photo of the wedding : gift given to Princess Elizabeth in 1947 in : the same site. : : I can know confirm that the brooch worn by : the Duchess of Cornwall is the brooch given : as a wedding to Princess ELizabeth in 1947 : by the Dowager Duchess of Portland. : : Please find below the photo of the wedding : gift (on the site we can screen the photo : and clearly see the card). : : [img] [/img] : : : the brooch is below (on the right) to the : burnese necklace. : : Franck : : --Previous Message-- : The Times 17 Apr 1923 p 17 describes her : gift : as a diamond brooch. : : --Previous Message-- : Stuart's fabulous find of the photos is : going : to overturn a lot of long held beliefs about : who gave what to QEQM as wedding presents. : : Two of the most interesting are -- : : 1 That the lace bow brooch which people : formerly thought had been presented by King : George was given by her godmother, Mrs : Arthur James. : : : : I notice that the Times list of 24 April : 1923 does not mention a separate brooch : (apart from in the turquoise suite) as : having formed part of the King's gift. : : : : : 2.
