The Greatest Two Minutes In Sports

The 150th running of the Kentucky Derby wrapped up television coverage at 7:30pm this evening.  NBC had 5 hours of coverage today.  A bit of a surprise that CityTV had the race and came in with 2.5 hours of NBC's coverage.

Two years ago TSN had 7.5 hours covering the day in Kentucky with pre-races, all kinds of backgrounder and a lot of their own coverage from reporters they had sent to Churchill Downs.  CTV also had about three hours of coverage from TSN/NBC in 2022.

Then last year, no Canadian network carried the race.  Sort of surprising  this major event has such spotty coverage here.  Again this year a very good race, and photo finish.

The big Leaf/Boston matchup is on 9 channels on my cable service this evening.

On a related horsepower note, the closest ever finish in a Nascar race occurred last Sunday in Kansas. Kyle Larson in a Camaro beat Chris Buescher in a Mustang by 0.0001 of  second. The photo finish picture was amazing. It was about 2 inches at almost 200 piles per hour.
