Bruckner Symphony 2 Rémy Ballot
Posted by John Proffitt on May 12, 2020, 10:51 pm
Regarding the edition(s) available for Bruckner's Symphony 2: there is no 1872/1877 mixed version Nowak. The published version that mixes those two distinct versions is by Robert Haas. Nowak published the 1877 version most frequently performed and recorded in the past; however, it contains several serious errors, which Nowak acknowledged and prompted him to commission William Carragan to edit the new Critical Edition of 1877 for the "Blue Book" MWV Complete Edition. Nowak 1877 has been subsequently withdrawn by the publisheer MWV. William Carragan also edited the Critical Edition of 1872 used by Rémy Ballot and others.
