Best,

Not his greatest, but only recorded in complete Beethoven projects and rather better than that, so I nominate the Augenblick cantata op.136 . It’s rather more enjoyable- to me- than Wellington-Symphony but has a hint as many performances.
I was fascinated to read Ralph Moore's review of John Suchet's book "Beethoven - the man revealed" (http://musicweb-international.com/classrev/2020/Feb/Beethoven_revealed_Suchet.htm ). For UK readers, John Suchet reads the news on television and so forgive me if I've always been a little "sniffy" with him writing about things "above his station". It is good to note from Ralph's fair assessment that, as always, my sniffyness has been misplaced and indeed, come to think of it, many British newsreaders have excellent tastes in music, be they Katie Derham or, further back, Richard Baker.
Anyway, I was intrigued to note Suchet's nomination for Beethoven's most neglected and underrated composition being the Choral Fantasia - a fair nomination I suppose. My own would be The Consecration of the House Overture, which I'm sure would be performed more often if it had a better name !
Any other nominations ?
Lee
