For sure Wilson's tempi sit at the faster end of the average range but again nothing like as fast as Hurwitz states. he mentions specifically "Pines" at "at fault" in this respect. At random I've just checked a couple of 'classic' versions - Karajan and Kertesz. Yes Wilson is about 10 seconds quicker over a 6 minute movement - far from "rushed". Or take Reiner - so often (justifiably) praised in this work - in the 4 movements of Pines Wilson is overall 6 seconds slower..... Not that 6 seconds makes a ha'pth of difference one way or the other - it just disproves Hurwitz's sweeping statements as being simply and quite literally wrong.
