The Texas Music Festival performance of the Vass arrangement of "Death and the Maiden" is available from HDTT - www.highdeftapetransfers.ca - in any number of formats, including Compact Disc, 5.0 high-resolution surround sound download, high-resolution stereo download, and CD-standard download.
And for an alternative evaluation of the Texas Music Festival performance and recording, you might want to check the new May/June issue of Fanfare and a review by Henry Fogel, the former CEO of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
I used the word "performance" in relation to your disappointment! The target of my post was really those readers who prefer to listen on disc rather than YouTube and would like to hear a full orchestral transcription. I have since found out that the Vass performance has been issued on CD although it wasn't clear to me how it could be obtained - see: http://old.pfz.hu/en/archivum/hirek/new-cd-from-the-pannon-philharmonic/668
Patrick - I found the performance not the transcription disappointing. As mentioned in the review a much finer full live performance of András Vass' version with him conducting the Hungarian Pannon PO can be heard here;
Although I would love to see/hear Foulds' orchestration of the same work I am not collecting symphonic Death & The Maidens!
Given that Nick Barnard found the Texas performance of this work disappointing, it is worth noting that a full orchestral version made by Andy Stein and played by the Buffalo Philharmonic is readily available on Naxos. It was reviewed on MusicWeb in 2009: http://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2009/May09/Schubert_Falleta_8572051.htm
