I think "They never will be missed part" of Ko-Ko's song might well apply to a good few on the BBC list.
I wondered if Bantock might have appeared among the also-rans of the BBC list and, considering his political views (as well as the fact that he was a jolly-fine composer) which would probably strike a chord with anybody connected with the BBC today, Rutland Boughton.
And did anybody remember Cyril Scott who often showed himself (when not in his Water Wagtail phase) to be a very adventurous, forward-looking composer?
I am afraid I must disagree with Ralph Moore re Handel.
GFH was granted British citizenship some 30 years before his funeral at Westminster
Abbey... complete with full state honours - that's good enough for me.
In regard to this 'list' there appears to be no mention of Bantock either. His work
still graces the catalogues of Hyperion and Chandos, more or less confirming the
comments by Nick Barnard about the futility of such an exercise.
Surely, the only meaningful attitude towards the idea of a list was expressed
by WS Gilbert in The Mikado.
