Well, Mike, I have produced a shortlist of personal Bruckner recommendations:
http://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2022/Feb/Bruckner-sy-checklist.htm
- but it contains some of your "boring" names, so I am tentative about making more suggestions. However, I share your antipathy to Rattle (except for his completed Ninth), Jochum and Thielemann in Bruckner, even if the inclusion of Karajan in your list puzzles me. I wonder, however, whether you would actually like François-Xavier Roth's "cleaner, crisper" approach?
The 4th reviewed here: https://www.musicwebinternational.com/2023/04/bruckner-symphony-4-myrios-classics/
and the 7th:

After that, I'm stumped and will just have to play the waiting game.
Hi Ralph
Ok. I am willing to be converted. Can you reccomend a couple of cds ?
The nearest I have come so far has been "quite liking" Nelsons. I suspect because reviews have generally been of the "not really the best Bruckner" kind.
I have tried Rattle (hated it), Karajan, Jochum and Thielemann (boring), Tenterden (dull).
As a guideline, I am passionate about Sibelius, Shostakovich and PMD.
Advise would be appreciated, I am ready fir conversion!!!; I know its me!!!
Mikeh, your antipathy to our beloved Bruckner is most painful to us devotees...but maybe one day you will experience a Pauline conversion and stay away from such distractions (although the composer himself was prone to making chaste but unreciprocated advances to young ladies).
I would prefer the escorts! Oops, did I say that?
Come for the Bruckner; stay for the escorts!
