Re: Andrew Macpherson, Scottish tenor
I wont be much use to you I'll wager James as I have no records of Andrew MacPherson. I know that, as Rob Barnett already said in 2021, he was chosen, from a strong field I gather, to sing Ernesto in Don Pasquale at the Cambridge Theatre for Jay Pomeray's New London Opera Company in 1946. I attach a pdf of a photo from an old Opera magazine. In the original run he was opposite the lovely soprano of Alda Noni. Martin Lawrence and Mariano Stabile sang Malatesta and Pasquale (all pictured). I found out for you that in April 1947 the BBC Home service did broadcast Act 1 from the Cambridge in the afternoon of Saturday the 5th. The cast was the same excepting Fernanda Inzani as Norina. Wouldn't it be lovely if a recording of that were to turn up? Good luck with the article and best wishes to Larry and the team at TRC from me! https://reader.exacteditions.com/issues/51716/page/20
