Dear Mr. Howell, Thank you for your wonderful survey. You might like to try and locate another Scherchen recording which I heard once many years ago. It came from Philadelphia in the 1960s, if my memory serves me correctly, a live broadcast. It would be interesting to see if his views had changed in the intervening ten years or so. Please carry on with the excellent analyses. Yours, George
Dear George, Thank you for your encouraging comment and for pointing out the later Scherchen performance. I don't know how this escaped me before but I have now managed to locate it. However, rather than create infinite confusion by posting revised versions of these articles every time a new performance turns up, or a source is found for a recording I noted as unavailable (a couple of other things have been found or are promised), I will let this material accumulate for a while. Meanwhile, the series is continuing.
