My father's family were slaves in Romania for centuries, before escaping to Bohemia and Moravia. Before the escape though, they were Roma, sure enough, but I doubt anybody can proclaim a slave race to be pure-blooded anything. Also, so many of our children have been stolen, historically--and this happened to my ancestor--that it's hard to maintain a rooted basis to knowing our culture. It's not the grown-up child's fault he was stolen and doesn't know his people's language or customes, but not everyone wants to see that. I will pass on your dog comparison to my father. I'm sure it will make him laugh.
Again, Kako, you have wise words. Without learning, there isn't much point to life... and your metaphor about pure-bred dogs vs. mongrels is very true. Especially with minorities because, as a people, we have suffered so much violence, to declare that we are 100% positive of every one of our ancestors is just rather absurd.
