I came across your questions on the history of the buddy stove. I breifly know some of the history, but could get you in touch with my mother which will have a lot of the literature and ect... on this stove.
There were a few different stoves made in Benton Harbor by Fatsco. They made this buddy stove and also one called the pet which was originally made for the covered milk wagons to keep the milk from freezing in the winter.
My father bought all the patents, the buildings and all the remaining parts around 1988 give or take a year. With out any advertisment we sold them by word of mouth to alot of people for there boats. Fatsco had many different little invetions and stuff that he made. My father passed away in 1994. My mother still sells them by word of mouth. We originally had enough parts to put together 4000 stoves. Since then my mother has had to get more parts made. My mother lives in Mesick Michigan. She has a lot of the old literature and info on the history of the stoves. She still has some of the old stove fronts that have benton harbor on them. However, like I said she has had to make some more parts in which, she has updated the front to say Mesick, Michagan on them.
My mother has remarried and her name is Julie Yoeman here home number is (231) 885-3288
If you need a stove or any of the history my mom would love to talk to you.
Anthony
