I have over a dozen 'Buddy stoves' from Benton harbor. I also have the original sales brochures #2 and #3. If your stove has the patent date stamped into the front casting then it was made after 1938. If no patent date...then made prior to 1938. By 1935 over 50,000 stoves had been manufactured by Fatsco's own account. The success of the stove caused other manufacturers of coal/wood heaters to 'copy' the design. Fatsco sued and won the patent in 1937/38. I have 2 with the oxen/wagon door. But doors can be misleading because so many different versions were cast. I have paid as little as $69 on Ebay and as high as $200. Hope it helps. Dave
