I haven't seen your roof situation but having owned and worked at a company that put up metal buildings for over 33 years I can tell you that if you have a metal roof you should not have to have a whole new roof unless it has rotted all your decking or several rafters. Anyone telling you that is not bilking you. Yes, if they did one thing wrong they may have messed up other things but an honest company can probably just fix what has been damaged under that part and put in new metal maybe two pieces or or so depending how your valley comes together.
I don't have a metal roof but had the same bulging in my ceiling after a hail storm damaged our roof year before last. It was an easy patch job. My husband cut out the damaged sheetrock back to half way of a two studs, checked for damage to studs above and made sure to leave a hole to let them dry out for about a week. Of course all the insulation came down. It is easiest to put a tarp under the place to be fixed first. A piece of sheet rock was cut the same size as the hole and we had a guy come in and mud it three times then painted it to match the rest of the ceiling. If it is done right it will not be noticeable at all.
If your carpet is wet try to get all the things in that area out and call someone who has the large fans to set down or use your own, theirs are just really strong. If it has molded you will have to replace it but you can see if they still sell the same kind and just replace the area from where the damage started to the wall.
I know that it is one thing after another but try to take a deep breath. After this week it could be a whole lot worse. If your misery loves company I am sitting in the same boat. I will also have to replace my brand new end tables that were purchased last week, a fake electric fireplace, a big screen TV and a sofa and loveseat with recliners. All were bought since August. The insurance agent can't even get to our house until 8 days from now so it will be 10 days from the time it happened so I know that we are going to have to have to replace the floor covering and it was just done a year ago. The house was built in the 70s and still has the acoustic ceilings that were so popular back then. The living room, dinning room, kitchen and entry way is all open floor plan and the tiles are no longer sold, not to mention that they may be asbestos, will have to test, so everything will have to come down and probably put up sheet rock. It will be a big job. So we are facing big jobs together.
Yes, it is a lot to take but all we can do is breathe and take care of one thing at a time. I believe that we will make it through.
