The easiest way to avoid regrets is to ask yourself this question, "If not now, when?" It's a powerful way to put life and our decisions about how we spend our time into perspective"
Cindyh, I hope you are safe

I am sure that you are in a storm shelter right now but I hope you check in when you can. According to the Weather Channel it looks like your area keeps getting hit over and over with bad storms with rotation clouds and possible tornados.
Have been home about 45 minutes. You were right Delta. We had 4 tornado warnings. It was a complete mess. We were at the shelter from 630 on. My ceiling is leaking so badly I want to cry. I feel like we are spending all our savings between having to get John a car. The roof repair next week and now extensive drywall repair that we need. I am so stressed.
Did you get any storms. I didn’t see any your way. Looked like they all came up to us
And we are having severe flash flooding now everywhere around here
Delta one more thing

The roof is not from the rain. It’s a metal roof. It’s running under where the main house meets the porch addition and apparently has been for a long time. I suppose from the way he described it when the porch was added on they didn’t cut the metal quite long enough and it doesn’t meet the house correctly so no insurance.
I am glad that you are safe. It looked like here on Wednesday night while watching that. We didn't get any storms, yet. They said that at about 4 AM we would get something similar to what you got. I am just grateful for the reprieve.
I haven't seen your roof situation but having owned and worked at a company that put up metal buildings for over 33 years I can tell you that if you have a metal roof you should not have to have a whole new roof unless it has rotted all your decking or several rafters. Anyone telling you that is not bilking you. Yes, if they did one thing wrong they may have messed up other things but an honest company can probably just fix what has been damaged under that part and put in new metal maybe two pieces or or so depending how your valley comes together.
I don't have a metal roof but had the same bulging in my ceiling after a hail storm damaged our roof year before last. It was an easy patch job. My husband cut out the damaged sheetrock back to half way of a two studs, checked for damage to studs above and made sure to leave a hole to let them dry out for about a week. Of course all the insulation came down. It is easiest to put a tarp under the place to be fixed first. A piece of sheet rock was cut the same size as the hole and we had a guy come in and mud it three times then painted it to match the rest of the ceiling. If it is done right it will not be noticeable at all.
If your carpet is wet try to get all the things in that area out and call someone who has the large fans to set down or use your own, theirs are just really strong. If it has molded you will have to replace it but you can see if they still sell the same kind and just replace the area from where the damage started to the wall.
I know that it is one thing after another but try to take a deep breath. After this week it could be a whole lot worse. If your misery loves company I am sitting in the same boat. I will also have to replace my brand new end tables that were purchased last week, a fake electric fireplace, a big screen TV and a sofa and loveseat with recliners. All were bought since August. The insurance agent can't even get to our house until 8 days from now so it will be 10 days from the time it happened so I know that we are going to have to have to replace the floor covering and it was just done a year ago. The house was built in the 70s and still has the acoustic ceilings that were so popular back then. The living room, dinning room, kitchen and entry way is all open floor plan and the tiles are no longer sold, not to mention that they may be asbestos, will have to test, so everything will have to come down and probably put up sheet rock. It will be a big job. So we are facing big jobs together.
Yes, it is a lot to take but all we can do is breathe and take care of one thing at a time. I believe that we will make it through.

I am so sorry. That’s a lot to replace too. But yours was from a tornado correct. The tree falling on it, so why won’t they replace the things that were damaged?
On the roof he isn’t saying we need a whole new roof. Just the part over the porch that was added on that was not done long enough and connected to the house correctly. But it’s a very big porch 11 ft x 30 ft. And metal roofs have gone up a lot up here.
If it was the whole roof I would go to shingles. I almost could have anyway.
That is a big

porch. Is the company that roofed it wrong still in business? I am so sorry that this is happening to you.
The storm wasn't from a tornado I don't think but straight-line wind. We hope that the insurance will pay but it is going to be a lot of hassle and it is hard to see a room full of new furniture go into the trash.
I understand that

That’s hard and I know getting insurance to pay is a fight too
The roofing company is NOT in business. He moved a few years ago. Probably after doing stuff like this. It was a big reputable company supposedly and did large churches etc. a lot have had problems since.
Lots of weather popping up again. Stay safe…. Again. I see Lake City with a warning again.
Yeah, unfortunately

when metal roofs got popular there were several companies with big names putting them up but they had never done metal before and it is different than regular roofs. We had some of them wanting to work for us and when we checked their work it was shoddy at best but they had tons of work for a few years then they all collapsed. I am sorry that you got hooked up with one of those. There were a few that actually did good work.
