There is nothing there except on one of them there are sticks that used to be covered with leaves. I never cut them until all the greenery is back and I only cut the stems that don't green up again.

The one my son brought me was over chest high when he transplanted them and they never died back. They just got too big for the area that they were in. The ones he transplanted bloomed the rest of the year but only had a few blooms for the next two years then never bloomed again. After a week of below-freezing temps, all but one never came back. It still hasn't bloomed.
