When my mother was in the hospital, the hospital tried to rush her out to in-house rehab, rehab tried to rush her home. Both were working on getting her out under the gun of insurance. She was also in a rush to get home. She ended up falling and getting a concussion and a broken bone, so time started again with the insurance anyway, and she was there 6 more weeks. If everyone had slowed down and followed protocol, she would have been home at least 4 weeks sooner than she was and would not have had to suffer the extra pain. It is so hard, but don't rush it. Let him stay as long as allowable and work under them to get stronger. It seems that he gets a seal of approval that he is well if he is out, but he will be in the same health right now whether he is home or whether he is there working hard to get home and getting stronger. Believe me, they do work harder in the hospital than they do at home. It is such a motivator. I have got to the point that I try to keep my mother there working with therapists as long as she possibly can because she does get stronger than she does at home or even in house rehab.
