I've been sure I would finally do something about my weight after heart surgery, a gangrenous gallbladder, chronic back pain, a broken vertebrae and months of living a life the size of a postage stamp. But, denial and feeding my food addiction come for common sense and self care.
Dr. Melisi spent a lot of time talking to me about the procedure and how my weight is going to make it all that more difficult because he will ha e to go thru a large layer of fat to get to my spine. It was the first time I've ever had a good talk about the impact of my weight on my health. I actually think it was his kindness that has motivated me to lose 25 pounds and strengthen my legs before surgery since I won't be ae to bend forward to stand up or get in/out of the car.
Bottom line is 'DON'T BE A PAULA.' You don't want diabetes. Take taking care of YOU seriously.
