In my experience in the hospitals around here doctors and surgeons are off on weekends unless they are on call. The whole weekend staff are different people who only work weekends, sometimes three-day weekends, never to be seen again until the next weekend. Since major staff are not there on weekends, they are often more lax in their duties. We found that when Mama was in the hospital, not in one but three different hospitals. I also had trouble every time I have been in the hospital on weekends, and a weekend person almost killed my husband after CABG. That is why I always try to stay on weekends to advocate when someone is in the hospital. I have often found the same in having to use ER on weekends. Unless the doctor was in on it, tried to dismiss it, or cover it up, he may be trustworthy.
