You have to start where you are and build on it. Build up the muscles a little at a time so that your bones and joints won't take as much punishment, and you won't experience any major injuries or setbacks. Not only should you only add a few steps every few days on your walks, but you can also brainstorm how to add more steps during the day, also not all at once. Find the restroom furthest away, and put your laundry baskets away so that you have to make more steps to put the laundry away. Get up during commercials, or at the markers if you are streaming, and march in place. You will be up to 10,000 steps strong and healthy, with no injuries. You don't have to be perfect right out of the gate, Krista. Increasing your steps by 5 a day is progress. Celebrate practicing consistently.
