Said grandson had an almost 5-hour drive ahead of him. He called to have a conversation about 2.5 hours from home to keep from getting sleepy and make the trip seem shorter. We have always enjoyed having conversations, and his wife was busy with the toddler's nighttime schedule at that time.
Grandson made it safely home. He left home at 3:30 this morning, spent 5 hours on the road, 6 hours in classes and testing, and another 5 hours on the road again, making it home after 9:00 PM. Long day for him. I told him next time he has classes to just come here the night before and stay in his room, and he will only have one drive each day. An 18-hour day is a bit much when he has to be at work early the next morning.
My daughter-in-law got the Christmas get-together meal planned and sent everyone their assignments today. It will be easy-peasy for everyone.
My husband helped my daughter's youngest son build a computer last night. He told me that he is off Friday, so he will come by and help me vacuum, dust the lower shelves, and mop the tile floors. He said that he knows those things are hard for me when I don't feel good. I have the greatest grandkids.
Oldest grandson was off this past weekend so he is not supposed to be off on the day we are having our Christmas get together, but a fellow worker has agreed to swap days off with him so they can both go to family get togethers. Now it looks like the whole family will be together for the first time in 3 years. It is hard to find a time when everyone is off since we have so many essential workers in the family.
