Wednesday Gratefuls Posted by Delta on 12/17/2025, 11:38 pm Our oldest grandson had come to town for some classes and testing to get recertified today. He stopped by and saw us for a few minutes. Always good to see him. Miss him and his family since they moved away in August. Said grandson had an almost 5-hour drive ahead of him. He called to have a conversation about 2.5 hours from home to keep from getting sleepy and make the trip seem shorter. We have always enjoyed having conversations, and his wife was busy with the toddler's nighttime schedule at that time. Grandson made it safely home. He left home at 3:30 this morning, spent 5 hours on the road, 6 hours in classes and testing, and another 5 hours on the road again, making it home after 9:00 PM. Long day for him. I told him next time he has classes to just come here the night before and stay in his room, and he will only have one drive each day. An 18-hour day is a bit much when he has to be at work early the next morning. My daughter-in-law got the Christmas get-together meal planned and sent everyone their assignments today. It will be easy-peasy for everyone. My husband helped my daughter's youngest son build a computer last night. He told me that he is off Friday, so he will come by and help me vacuum, dust the lower shelves, and mop the tile floors. He said that he knows those things are hard for me when I don't feel good. I have the greatest grandkids. Oldest grandson was off this past weekend so he is not supposed to be off on the day we are having our Christmas get together, but a fellow worker has agreed to swap days off with him so they can both go to family get togethers. Now it looks like the whole family will be together for the first time in 3 years. It is hard to find a time when everyone is off since we have so many essential workers in the family.

I wish I could join your family! I'd be begging... send me my assignment! Just tell me what to do!

I have been taking on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and every other holiday that we get together for (they vary by year for reasons) forever. Last year, everyone had so many Christmas get-togethers that they begged not to do a usual Christmas dinner. I tried to get a local restaurant that caters the BEST roast beef dinner, including desserts, but they were already booked up. I just tested everyone and told them to bring finger food. We had the best time sampling everything. They wanted to do something similar this year, but I wasn't up to it and dropped the ball, so she took it on herself to do it. I am so grateful to her and proud of her. She asked for preferences, then assigned people sweet or savory. I think it will work great. I wish you could join us, too. The door is always open.

I am so proud that even through their teenage angst years, they had a heart, not just for me but for other people. They are always helping others without being asked or told. They are all great kids.

We had a luncheon (they catered Mexican) and I have to say it was delicious. I enjoyed every bite and I’m not going to apologize for it. 2. The party wrapped up at 1 and we got the rest of the day off with pay! 3. My Christmas bonus was deposited today! 4. Only 2 more days of work before I am off for 10 days. 5. Time spent with Ken. Since I got off early today we got in a nap! Love that!

I love reading so much good stuff going on with you Posted by Delta on 12/18/2025, 1:18 pm, in reply to "My five…" Apologize for a feast day? Never. Enjoy them then go right back to plan. Festivities don't come every day it is fine to celebrate. It is awful that we have been made to feel otherwise. So happy that you got a Christmas bonus and a nap. I have never felt that I should lie down for a nap in the middle of the day unless sick (like we feel we should never enjoy food) so I have never gotten into the habit. I wish I could. Research says it it so good for our brains and longevity.
