We have had a glorious week of temperatures in the high 60 to low 80. It was especially nice that we weren't racing the rain or had a lot of water or even frozen ground to work with, getting the sewer replaced.
Having a husband who can do things. We almost packed up our clothes and headed to the lake, and left everything until later this week or next, when people come back from their Christmas break (it is when contractors usually take their vacations because it is the slowest two weeks of the year, generally). My husband decided that he could do it, and we wouldn't have to go anywhere. It ended up costing us a little less than $1000. He and my son sat down and calculated the cost last night, and with the scope that it turned out to be, it would have cost well over $20,000.00 to have it done.
I am also grateful that he hasn't gotten rid of his tractor yet. He has had numerous people make him offers, and I thought he was crazy not taking it after closing down his construction business.
My daughter didn't break her ankle when she was on and off pulling the tractor up and backing it up while he sat behind it in the backhoe. The last time she used it at work, she broke her ankle when she got off.
My husband wasn't hurt when he fell. Yesterday we had heavy fog until after noon. It caused alot of wetness on surfaces, including the light layer of dirt that had settled or been tracked onto the sidewalk. As he was walking on it he hit a slick spot and went down. He ended up with a bruised and skinned knee. I am grateful that is the worst of it.
