I know that you are go big or go home, but that tends to be too hard on your body. This sounds sensible and a lot easier (well, when you get past the habitual over-striving and the burning-out part, habits are so hard to break).
What could you do to help you drink your water? If I keep a large cup with a straw in it, I will sip frequently, especially if I have lemon, lime or cucumber slices in it. A friend always went to the kitchen and drank a glass of water after she had to go to the bathroom, which meant that she would have to go again in a bit so more water. Some people carry water bottles everywhere they go. There are bottles that have time marks on them that you have to get there by that time. What would help Krista stay on track?
A doctor told my sister-in-law to eat just the amount she could hold in her hand 4-5 times a day. She was supposed to concentrate on protein, vegetables, and a little fat. She lost 75 pounds quickly, and after she got used to eating real food instead of junk foods, she was never hungry and never had to white-knuckle it. A friend got a small bowl that had a divider in it that she used to eat her meals from. She lost over 100 pounds without ever counting anything except that she had enough grams of protein and enough vegetables/fruits with a little good fats. Think of ways that you could get the right amount without giving it much thought.
She is right that AI is a great tool for ideas. Pinterest also is if you ask for ideas for meals with the amount of protein and carbs that you are trying to get. I found out that once I started using Pinterest for that, they flooded me. I started a new account, and after I tried something that I really liked, I moved it to my new account and put it into categories so that it was easy to find when I wanted to meal plan. After a while, you will have weeks' worth of meals that you can recycle, making everything easy while keeping it varied.
Krista, I don't know about you, but I am really excited about this for you! It sounds so much easier than "dieting." It may be hard to work around diet mentality for a while (I know that I was so entrenched in it that eating like a human seems like a foreign concept), but it seems as if it will be very freeing in the long run.
