Sucky day Posted by Paula on 4/17/2025, 1:48 pm Ortho recommended surgery and a rod. He said I can do all the PT and walking but it's not going to fix the problem. I asked him if losing 50 pounds would and he said that it wouldn't fix anything. He said he would clean up the area and put a rod in. I sent the neurosurgeon I saw last Fall a message to see what he thinks. He said I didn't need surgery then but didn't offer any suggestions. Second heat pump estimate the same 12,500 but for a more efficient unit and 10 years free labor along with 10 year on parts. I do believe that millions of people would love to have my worst day...I have shelter, food, safety, income.

I have a friend that had to have a rod and millions of screws because his spine was so very awful almost half way up. A few weeks later he started a walking program. Within a few months he was doing 3-5 miles every day and lost almost 100 pounds. He said that it saved his life. I still can't believe that the heat pump is going to be so expensive. It is probably the 10 years of free service. One of our rentals went out yesterday just as temps started being in the mid 80s. We ordered a new one. IT WAS $6000 for inside and outside units because the inside is leaking too. Full heating and cooling system. I just can't believe that it is so high there. I feel for you.

I have a feeling when ours go out , hopefully no time soon believe me we will have to leave the Cape area to get a new one. I can't even grocery shop because when the pain goes off, I need to sit almost immediately. I don't trust myself to be able to do anything.

Your second heat pump that you checked into sounds like a better deal. Hate you have to pay so much for it. Is yours completely shot? Or could you use it until you are ready to sell your house and then just sell as is? Your last line says it all. I feel the same way. I have to remind myself this when I’ve had a rough day.
