Then my husband made a garden at the office too, because he loves gardening. He didn't plant anything last year. I missed having fresh vegetables for meals. He has made no preparation this year, so I thought it was going to be another no-vegetable year, but he bought some tomatoes and peppers yesterday just for eating. I think I will work up a small area and plant a couple of cucumber vines and some summer squash, maybe a couple of eggplants. Just something small is all we need. We have had our eye on a house in our subdivision at the end of a dead-end road for over two years. We haven't even seen inside it, but we love the lot it is on. It caught our attention when they originally listed it two years ago, but they pulled it right back off the market before our scheduled viewing. They now say that they are moving in June and have scheduled it to go on the market after they move. I hope that they don't change their minds again, that when we see the inside, we like it as much as the outside, and that the price is right. Houses used to sell for an amount per square foot, with a little thrown in for extra amenities, but since the pandemic, people just throw out a price and don't even get an estimate on their house. Our oldest grandson, his wife and son, his youngest brother, and his best friend went to the lake house this weekend. They seemed to have had a good time, according to what they say when they call or text us, looking for something or showing us something. I am glad to see some of them enjoying it. Having new colors of flowers blooming daily now. It was kinda strange that it has bloomed one color at a time this year instead of like plants blooming together. Yesterday I had white roses, white clematis, and white Dutch iris blooming. The clematis usually blooms with the other clematis, which are winding down now. A week ago, only red roses bloomed, although I have other colors of some of the varieties that didn't bloom. It is kinda weird but nice. Being comfortable in our retirement years. We worked hard and saved/invested hard to get here. I was always scared after we quit public jobs and started working for ourselves without a company matching our retirement fund, that we wouldn't have enough, and sometimes the debt load during those years scared me spitless, but it worked out.

We Posted by Delta on 4/28/2025, 3:49 pm, in reply to "Delta" were beginning to wonder if we should sell the lake house because our son's family had only gotten up there 2 times last year, our daughter and her kids one time. We went a lot when my mother was here because she loved it so much but after she left we only went once to enjoy it then once in the fall to close it down. It is nice that suddenly people are scheduling weekends there so that there is room for everyone. I love my flowers. Some didn't make it through the week where the temperatures never got above 12°. That is not temperatures the South is used to, and even with covers, they didn't survive. I can't wait to get some color back in those spots.

So grateful for the time we had with them and the memories we made. 2. Getting my house back in order. Laundry is almost done, just waiting for the sheets to come out of the dryer and I can make the bed in the spare bedroom and it’s done! 3. Back to work tomorrow. Grateful for my time off to spend with the guys this past week. I am planning on starting my full days back to work this week for the days that Ken doesn’t have PT coming over. 4. All that we have. We are so lucky for everything we have been blessed with-a home, a car, enough money to buy groceries and pay our bills-and so much more! 5. This day and all it has to offer us. God is good!

It sounds like Ken is doing well; it just takes time when we get that far down from infection. I love having company and hate for them to leave, but then I want my house back to normal as soon as possible after they are gone. Are you planning to stay in your wonderful house as you both age out and make some modifications for the stairs or are you going to try to sell and buy a one-level house?

I am sure that something to help with the stairs would be a lot less expensive option since you love your house so much. There are so many new options now that I have been seeing advertised. I haven't looked at the costs yet, but the new stuff will probably come down in price as it gets more popular. I like the one that you just step on a platform, even with the floor on each level, and it glides you down to the bottom or up to the top. For some reason, it appeals to me more than the sit-down kind, but if one is sick, I am sure the sit-down kind would be more useful.

Exciting trying something new Posted by Delta on 4/27/2025, 2:58 pm, in reply to "Mine" Potatoes can be pretty low-key during the summer, not requiring much work other than weeding, and if you put straw or newspaper strips around them, it will allow you more time at the cabin. It's fun digging them up in late summer/fall. Make sure you have some of your littles there to help. They usually love the experience. It looks like you were mostly out of the range of the heavy weather this weekend. We were for the first time in 5 weekends, but we are having a thunderstorm right now. I hope it doesn't turn violent. I am skittish after the last 5 weeks.

He was officially drafted but chosen to keep working with the team. I don't know if any of you remember Erika. She was the woman who was hired with me at VCU to develop the HIV mental health program. He was only about 11 then and lived football. We would talk about him getting drafted one day. Sunshine Sleeping good (well??) Six weeks to surgery. I am going to try to lose 25 pounds between now and then. I know it's a lofty goal but it's ok to try. Only 9 CEUs to go. Will finish up the ethics requirement today.

It depends on whether you concentrate on what you really want or on what you want in the moment. I recently heard it said that instead of saying you will lose 25 pounds by a certain time that if you say I weigh XXX that your brain will take you there. They said to make that number your mantra and think it several times a day. I haven't tried it yet, about to. How exciting for Erika and her son and you! Great going on your CERs. It shows that when you set your mind to something that you get it done. That is why I can safely say that I believe in you accomplishing anything you decide to do.

In gratitude for the life of Pope Francis. May the new pope continue his legacy! 3. We had to have our 12-year-old water heater replaced. The original estimate was $1200-$1600, but the actual bill was $1050. Woo-hoo! 4. My car had to go in for servicing. The original estimate was $140, but the actual bill was $0.00! Double woo-hoo! 5. FSF family and friends! I pray for all of you, your families, your friends in my daily prayers... and thank you for praying for me! Maintenance is a forever endeavor!

I have to agree with you wholeheartedly on Posted by Delta on 4/27/2025, 2:54 pm, in reply to "Five for me..." the who-hoos of saving money. Can't believe your car servicing was $0.00. We bought a hot water heater a couple of years ago, and they had more than doubled since the pandemic started and have gone up even more since then. You got a good deal.
