Memorial Day Gratefuls Posted by Delta on 5/26/2025, 6:02 pm, in reply to "Memorial Date Gratitudes" All the men and women who have given their time and sometimes their lives for the freedoms we often take for granted. Even if we are not at war, their lives are not always comfortable as they serve and they always know that any minute things could change and they could be at war. My oldest grandson and his wife came over and dusted everything in my house (including the blinds and fans), vacuumed the carpets, swept and mopped all the tile, and cleaned the bathrooms for our anniversary. Our house looks and smells so good. I can keep the house neat, but I can't vacuum, sweep, and mop more than a couple of rooms at a time before I get down in my back and hip/leg (sciatica) and have to sit down for a day or two before I can tackle a few more. They agreed to come every week to do that for me. I will pay them, of course. I just can't find house cleaners here. My DIL, her mother, and I have been trying to find someone for three years. We have been weathering all the storms. Since mid-March, every weekend we have had severe thunderstorms and tornado watches with many warnings. Two times we were able to go somewhere that had no weather warnings, and it was so calming. My husband finally agreed today that we need to get new paint and new carpets and get this house listed before the bottom drops out of the market again. We can sell the furniture and things that we don't love, store what we want to put into a new, smaller house, and live in the lake house while we look for a new place to live. I love this house but it is getting too much for both of us. He lived in the same place from birth to marriage so he is not a fan of moving and has put it off every time I have mentioned it. We can even set up a bedroom and sitting area in our office building in case we want to spend some time here close to the kids, we already have a bath and kitchen there. It takes the pressure off trying to find something quickly. My cousin, who I grew up living beside that is more like a sister to me had breast cancer 9 years ago. She had surgery, and they thought they got it all, but last year she developed masses all over her body, including her lungs. She has been on oxygen for a year and went through chemo/radiation for months recently. She is in PT now and off oxygen during the day and can now drive. She still gets winded and fatigued easily, but is getting stronger every day and able to mostly take care of herself now. At her last PET scan, they said that many of the masses are gone and the others are shrinking; none are growing, and all the fluid is leaving her lungs on its own now, so she should not need another thoracentesis.

Like the baseboards dusting etc. it’s 60 and up an hour here. Yikes. I have no idea how long it would take but I just can’t do that. I don’t want to do it and get down in my back. Not the low stuff. I’m a perfectionist and John sure isn’t but he’s sweet enough to do it to his standards if I ask lol. That will do. He’s a good man! He’s also my new baseboard cleaner! He’s been mopping for me. We need new carpet but I’m afraid to get a quote at all.

Still a hard day. Always will be) So tired of my back hurting. Praying this ablation works. And lasts a long time So happy Paula’s sugery is coming fast Thinking about having Hannah and family over and bbqing this afternoon. Just burgers and hot dogs. We haven’t grilled this year

The ablation is June 25. I have always been someone who just pushes through pain. Don’t talk about it. Etc. now it seems to be the constant in my day. I wish they could do more. I can’t wait for this. I find myself happy to stay honest and go nowhere and I have NEVER been that person. I don’t want to be that person. I want a middle ground I need to get back to the gym and find something that doesn’t injure me. That makes me feel better emotionally.

She said the thing that stood out to her was the silence after the delivery. No music, no doctors and medical staff, talking, no baby crying. That really grabbed me. She knew he was gone but had to deliver because he was full term. She complained to her OB a couple days before this happened that something was wrong but she was reassured everything was fine. Many hugs, Cindy When will the ablation happen?

Cinq Choses Pour Moi Posted by Krista on 5/26/2025, 11:59 am, in reply to "Memorial Date Gratitudes" 1) should have amazing weather next 2 days which will mean I can get into the pool! 2) Dad has his scope tomorrow to determine the next steps to take on his rectal cancer 3) my husband - can't say this enough - he cooks all the meals and looks after so much at our home. I am so blessed 4) woke up this morning and said "enough". Took a shot of OZ and I am going to start by writing down all my food and trying "IF" again. I am the heaviest of my life and can barely clean myself if you know what I mean. ENOUGH. 5) made almost $300 on a yard sale this weekend. I was pleased although 3/4 of the JUNK is still here. Beanie babies will be donated to the hospital

How long did you stay off the Oz to see if the rash would go away? I have become allergic to medications I have been taking for over a year, makeup or facial cleaners I have used for years, and detergent I have used for years. I don't know if they changed the formula or if I just developed a reaction suddenly. It's not fun, nor is trying to find the culprit. I hope that you can find some definitive answers to the rash soon. Do you take probiotics? My gastroenterologist helped me understand how a lot of the things that go on in my body start in my gut, with having an imbalance there. Probiotics helped a great deal. I just want you feeling better soon.

Started it again last Sept for about 2 months I think (-17) and that's when the doc suggested I come off it again when we ruled out 2 other drugs first. No I don't believe in pro-biotics. I'm crazy like that

I also take Culturelle or Digestive Advantage if Walmart is out of Align. Lately, I have been trying to eat more foods like yogurt, especially the ones with more probiotics available, saurkraut, kimchi, true sourdough bread that has fermented in the refrigerator for more than 24 hours and kombucha so I haven't needed them.

I've learned so much about the sacrifices and courage they exhibit even when not in a combat zone. I can say, "Thank you for your service" in a whole new way. All but one note written yesterday. I don't love apples but I know they are good for me. I've taken to eating an apple first thing in the morning while I'm drinking my coffee. It's become a symbol of my weight loss journey. I bite in with a crunch and it reminds me of what I'm doing. For my life. It hasn't been boring. Dreamed of an old lover last night. It was amazing. So happy to be with him. He was a tall and well built man. It felt so good to be wrapped up in his arms. I carried that into this morning.
