He called the doctor and got a prescription for what he switched to over the weekend. My daughter, her husband, and daughter are loving lake life. He wanted to come home on Saturday when they left, but it has changed every day, and they are still there. They are loving the peacefulness of the small, rural town, although they wanted a hamburger yesterday and found out that they can only get one for two hours at lunchtime and two hours at dinner time. If you want one any other time you have to cook it yourself. Our son had a colonoscopy today. He said everything was great and he doesn't have to go back for 10 years. Thankfully, it doesn't look like he inherited my family's gut problems. Getting back to clearing out and getting rid of more stuff. How did we accumulate so much stuff that we don't use and why is is still here? I am doing themed Bible studies this year and learning so much.

Apparently, he could lose a lot of his bowel with this surgery and may have to have an ostomy bag. He was not optimistic about making it through alive yesterday. But I'm thankful for HOPE and God's love to get us through this 4) Cooper - damn, I love that little cat! 5) Ray. Always. Our garage door opener but the dust last night. He does have the replacement parts and worked on it last night but he had to come home to take me to work yesterday and pick me up. He got a friend to drive him to work today and left his vehicle for me. That man continues to amaze me with his heart, caring and generosity

I feel that your dad should get the lift chair before the surgery. Cutting through the muscles in the stomach area makes it hard to scoot or lean forward, so people tend to pull themselves up to the edge of a chair to get up. That results in pulling stitches loose. He also needs one of those ropes to help him sit up in bed, even if he has an adjustable bed. He may end up sleeping in that recliner when he gets home. I hope he doesn't need an ostomy bag; many don't, but it is not the end of the world. The biggest thing is changing when you are supposed to and keeping it clean to avoid infections. After getting used to the difference, it is not a big deal. My next door neighbor had bowel cancer and had an 18" section removed. She didn't require an ostomy and lived a normal life, working well into her 80s because she wanted to and she could. Wishing him the best. I am so glad that you found Ray. He's a keeper.

It is a very delicate operation Posted by Delta on 6/10/2025, 5:35 pm, in reply to "Thanks Delta" if it is low enough to need an ostomy bag simply because the area is small and most doctors' hands are not, and it usually takes two pairs of hands in there at one point, but I don't know why he thinks he won't make it. I was literally on death's doorstep, and they pulled me through three times. It sounds to me as if he will have a much better chance now.

I just couldn't stand being barked at or hearing a heavy sigh when I asked for help. I hurt quite a bit by bedtime. The PT said I would hurt a little more when a few days had passed. I have a script for oxycodone but am trying to just take it at bedtime. ES Tylenol throughout the day. God help me. Today is the first day I can take a shower and wash my hair. Guy got most of the mulching done while I was in the hospital. Looks great. Getting some hospital weight off. I ate a dinner role, 1 piece of fish (mostly) and 2 single serve cartons of cheerios with skim milk and a.tiny turkey wrap at the hospital and came home at 266. I know it's all fluid and swelling. I had the big D most of yesterday and peed a lot. I hadn't seen Hamilton in awhile and seeing the cast on the Tony's made me want to see it. Did a quick trial of Disney + and watched the first half last night. Below is what is most likely to set me off...when I know one of them wants/needs something from me that I can't give. I can't even bend over to pet Lew. Cosette has not wanted much to do wit h me when she got home. She came in the door, sort of nodded at me and went looking for Lew. It was pretty sweet.

Glad that you are getting rid of surgery-related weight. Probably the IV fluids right now. Later, it will be swelling around the surgical site. Two weeks from now you may have a much lower number to report.
