Hey Posted by Paula on 6/28/2025, 1:29 pm Wish I had better news. The pain is excruciating when I roll in the bed or go from sit to stand or stand to sit. Walking is equally painful. I don't feel like I've made any progress at all. I'm a tad better on higher pain meds but my brain is mush. There is a constant side conversation going on with all kinds of people. That's exhausting too. This has all revealed how tenuous my living situation is. Bill anticipates nothing, doesn't even recognize there are problems to be solved. With me being so out of it, it's a bad situation. Talked to Patty about skilled nursing facilities and she said that they are awful and that I wouldn't make it there. I knew these days were coming but didn't expect this this soon. Can't go there. Love you

I was in and out of several of them when I was working for hospice. If I had money for a private pay facility, it might be different. That could be $10-$12,000 a month for a semi private room.

My mother just loved the place she stayed for 12 weeks, recovering from hip surgery. There are the dismal ones but they don't usually last long here.

I don't think that people have caught on to looking for the retirement village rehab places. There are a few retirement villages that I would love to buy a house or townhouse in around here. My husband just won't hear it yet because he wants to buy more land since he is retired. He loves working outside. I did hear him tell a neighbor the other day that with the temps rising constantly, it was taking more out of him than it used to and he was considering it. Crossing my fingers. I think it would be great to age in place in one of the ones that I have looked at. Even if/as I need more and more care, it would be on the same campus and my friends would still be near me and could come to see me. There is just so much to do in them and these all have different restaurants, fast food places or cook a meal for you. I am ready to sell my house today and move into one of them but would definitely choose one of them if I need in house rehab.

That was the rehab part. They helped them get their strength back and they both came home able to be up and around and doing for themselves.

Between the pain, weakness from the infection and the medications your brain IS mush and can't see daylight. I know that it is easier said than done but try to relax some and just breathe. Try to put all your thoughts into positive things like getting better and things that you love. The more positive you are the faster you can heal, it is a scientific fact. You can think about and solve your other problems once you get back on your feet. Remember that your pain was much better after your surgery until you got the infection. You will be there again. It likely will be an arduous journey there but you can do it and Paris will be glorious.

I’m sorry there aren’t any short term rehab places that are good. Hopefully you can get a home health agency to get involved as that is what we did with Ken. We had OT PT and a nurse stopping by the house each 2 times a week so that really helped. Love you sweet girl.

" And there were 3 different ones coming out 2X each so we had 6 different visits during the week and this went on for 2 months. YOU WILL GET BETTER! And just think how much nicer it will be to be walking around Paris without all the pain. You need to focus on that. And KNOW that you will get through this!
