He’s not doing well But can always be worse. He developed afib (did I say this?) and has a pacemaker already. They had to move him to the heart floor ICU and were kind enough to let me stay a lot It took until this AM to get him into normal sinus rhythm. Thank goodness he reverted though. The blood cultures are coming back bad. She said it’s a bad strain of staph called staph epidermidis. The rocephin isn’t working on it. I don’t know what they’ll change it to but they said this form of staph is bad about attaching to foreign things in the body like lead wires to his pacemaker and also heart valves so they will be doing some heart tests and that’s why he probably went into afib. So that’s what I know. And I’m tired. Keep praying

They were treating me with Vancomycin for staph before they got the lab results back because they said it was so tough on all kinds of staph. I don't know if that holds today after more info is in. I do know that with every infection, my mother goes into AFIB, and she has a pacemaker. It does complicate things a great deal. The last few UTIs she has had, they have told us to find a live-in hospice facility for her because she wouldn't be going home. She has fooled them every time and is still living by herself. Anything can happen.

It took awhile for them to figure out what would work for my surgery infection but they finally did. It took an Infectious Disease doctor to do it. Wonder if one is involved in your dad's care. Hope so. Hugs
