It almost breaks my heart that the dusty rose marble has to go because it is completely fine marble, but it is just not to my tastes. Can't you just see me crawling up on that ledge by the Jacuzzi in front of the windows, especially if there are people in that room? Nope, the whole room has to be redesigned and the windows have to go. It also had a leak when they built on the Florida room and backed up the gutters. All that has been corrected, and there is a new roof, but the damage is done behind some of that marble, so it and the sheetrock have to be stripped ot the studs. All the wallpaper has to go. Nothing has changed in this house since it was built. The kitchen needs a new redo. Since the cabinets are solid wood and in good shape, and solid wood cabinets are hard to find these days, we may elect to keep them and either paint them or get new doors. Dunno yet. It has a commercial refrigerator and stove, so they may stay, they are clean (shocking) and usable. The oven/microwave definitely has to go. Lot of changes but not daunting.

Notice how special it is because when you close the door beside the toilet you have a floor to ceiling window so that everyone on the road can see you in all your glory. LOL.

The first thing my husband said was that he was going to have all that marble removed, and it does look over-the-top in pictures, but it isn't as bad in reality. I think it is a little excessive for the space. Would you believe that all the grandsons love that tub? They can even accept the color. They just keep saying get rid of the window and leave the tub the way it is, and they all have jetted tubs so it is not that. It's growing on me. I remember all the wallpaper in this house. I was papering a bathroom about the time it came out because that was the rage. I wanted the other bathroom wallpaper for my house, but both were way out of my budget. I also wanted the kitchen/dining room paper at that time, but couldn't afford to paper an area that big, just one bathroom with a cheaper paper. Everything in this house is very nostalgic to me, but we got it for the water, the space inside and ou,t and the proximity to amenities.

This is more like a house we would rent if we were on vacation. Truthfully, I am grateful that it was in the family's budget and just dropped into our laps but I am a bit overwhelmed by it.

I loved being at the other house until we needed something and had to drive 25 minutes or longer on very curvy roads to get to a town that had nothing but a Walmart, a tiny hardware store, and a furniture store, two or three fast food places, and not much more. We used to live like that, but I am finding it harder to cope these days. It meant that every time we went up, we had to make the 3-4.5 hour trip, depending on which of us it was, then immediately go shopping for food. It was exhausting and the only real fly in the ointment.

Is it wrong that the Posted by Delta on 11/6/2025, 11:02 pm, in reply to "How beautiful!…." Dusty rose is growing on me. The tub on a shelf is still a little, okay, a lot of extra-ness. It would not be bad to move the vanity out into the room where that is, and just put a nice soaker tub in there and move the toilet away from the shower. We plan to do that anyway, but with a light creamy color, it might not be so over the top then, I don't know. Those overly precious sinks might have to go, no matter what. I am just not that girly. It is a very narrow shower, and my husband wants it wider than the way ours is, but it already has a seat in it, and it is so dark. I suppose we could add a light. I wonder if we took the marble trim off and used normal trim, white toilet, sink, and tub, and maybe even a white vanity to tone down some of that pinkness. The Jacuzzi has to go because I hate the one we have, and I am the only one who uses it. The pipes harbor so much bacteria that just spews all in the bath water unless you fill the tub with bleach water and run it for about 10 minutes before rinsing it out, then filling it for a bath. I would much rather have a hot tub, I think. I was surprised that they still didn't have oak toilet seats with all those oak cabinets and vanities. I will welcome any ideas.

I don't want it to be grey walls and LVP floors because that is what every single house we have looked at has had. I don't know about this much uniqueness, though. Not to mention it has plush carpet in there. I also noticed the special windows that make sure everyone sees you, and there was also a floor-to-ceiling window right beside the toilet in the other bathroom. That's special.

All they see is what is considered gaudy these days. The people must have been fairly well off when they built it because they used the best that was offered at the time. It breaks my heart to break that marble. I have never been able to afford marble.
