Look what I made: Posted by Cindy on 11/9/2025, 9:10 pm A little back story-My mom used to always make Ken pies. She loved doing it and he loved getting them. Among the different pies she would make him was a custard pie. He loved them and hadn’t had one since before she died in 2007. I decided to make one and looked up the recipe online and bought the ingredients. I then thought how nice it would be to use my moms recipe and looked in a notebook that she had given me with some of her recipes in at and believe it or not the second to the last recipe was for her custard pie! So not only did I make Ken a pie, I made my mom’s pie for him! And here it is:

Ever since my grandma passed in 1995. But I’ve only made 1 in the last almost 7 years. It always amazes me how different the recipes are for how many eggs to use. Eggs vs milk. I always use Splenda in mine. Can’t tell any difference. Mom was diabetic.

I wonder if it is one that you put into water to bake or if it is just baked on theshelf? I ask because my grandma and grandpa both made the best custard and I loved it as a kid. They neither used a recipe to make it, just winged it, and Iwas too young to remember how they made it. I would love to have one like they used to make. They didn't put it in water to cook.
