3 month check in with surgeon Posted by Krista on 12/16/2025, 5:26 pm Had a great call with the surgeon. He told me I am doing FINE and not to be so hard on myself. He reminded me that I am 60, menopause could play in and that I can't move around like a 20 year old. He took time to answer all my questions and reminded me that I can still enjoy food (from time to time) and live LIFE! Some of the notes I jotted down in answer to my questions: - take starting point before Optifast (296.2) - 140 would be perfect weight for me - I had 160 extra lbs to lose and a realistic outcome with the sleeve would be 70% (100 lbs) with 12-18 months - 60 grams min - 90 grams of protein daily is even better - approx 1200 calories daily - need to eat every 4 hours, even if not hungry (I don't do this currently so this is something for me to focus on) - have one bottle of water, then two - buildup the habit - 10,000 steps daily still the goal - morning meal should have most - 30 grams of protein - protein bar is a good choice - lunch / supper should be 1/2 protein, 1/4 healthy carb and 1/4 fruit / veggie - snack around 4 pm could be unsalted almonds or berries Our next follow-up is March 17th so I WILL be down at least 50 by then - 6 months. You know me though - I'll be shooting for more!

Just this morning, I read another article comparing weight loss drugs and your surgery. The surgery you had tops the results of anyone using one of the weight loss drugs! You're on the right path! So many people I know who have had a sleeve just get dropped after the surgery, follow-up to see if everything is healing. I am also glad that he told you to not be so hard on yourself. I say this very lovingly and it is one of the things that I love about you, but you tend to be Go-big-or-stay-home at times. Weightloss and keeping it off are lifetime journeys. We all want to get there as soon as possible, but our bodies do what our bodies do. Concentrate on how far you have come not on when you will be a certain weight and you will be happier, I think. I think you are doing marvelously! Keep on keeping on!
