Sunday Grats Posted by Delta on 1/18/2026, 5:16 pm, in reply to "Sunday grats..." Our garden tomatoes lasted until yesterday. It has been nice to have them. A warm home during this cold weather. Many more warming shelters have opened in this area this year for those who don't have heat when the temperature drops below freezing, and they are providing free bus rides to them. We love homemade soups. They warm the house as they cook and warm our bodies as we eat them. Having a fenced yard so that we don't have to walk Poppy when the weather gets really cold.

I receive social security from the government, BUT the way things are going here in the good old USA, who knows how long that will last. I usually do them 4-5 days a week. The wind is blustering. The windchill is 6 degrees. I am so grateful I have a warm and safe home. The shoppers from the grocery store will bring in groceries and put them on the counter. You wonderful ladies. I love you all.

The gratitude is that I have a big new apron sink that I can do dishes in. That’s right- I’m going old school! 2. Off tomorrow for Martin Luther King day. It will be nice to have an extra day off with pay! 3. Coffee with Kim yesterday. It was great to catch up. 4. Curbside pickup at Walmart. It’s cold out and this is such a handy and convenient way to get my groceries! 5. Time spent with Ken.

I took out the filter and cleaned it out-and then kept trying to run a rinse cycle but it kept pulling the Failure to drain code and shutting off! I went online and searched how to fix the dishwasher (that’s how I learned where and how to find and clean the filter) and it mentioned that we needed to clear the code by turning off the breaker for 3 minutes and then turn it back on and try to run a rinse cycle. We did that and it ran a rinse cycle!! Yay! I’m going to run a short cycle in a bit and see if it works but I feel hopeful!!

He never apologizes without somehow blaming me for his actions. Handyman came, blades on new ceiling fan were cracked and pieces were missing from the chandelier. This is an impossible project! Drug everything back.to Home Depot by myself because I wasn't going to ask Bill. Reordered. Get an email from the handyman that he was going to charge me an extra $150 because he has to make a second trip once the stuff comes in. I told them I've never heard of such a thing. He lives an hour away so I offered $50 to cover the drive. Never heard back. So that makes 4 failed handymen. A great paycheck. Anthem was late with their reimbursement so the previous check was smaller than expected, making this one really big. The lights that DID get up look great. Had a bunch of stuff in the back of my CRV. Returned the lights to HD, took tons of big cardboard packaging that wouldn't fit in my recycle bin, to the neighborhood recycling bins, dropped stuff off at Goodwill. Love getting stuff like that done. Making bean soup and cornbread tonight.

We had a somewhat similar situation when trying to get the repairs completed after Hurricane Ian because the home insurance was contingent upon audited and approved repairs. I started crying in exasperation, and luckily for me, my husband stepped in, called the handyman and yelled at him over the phone. Now, you have to understand that my husband is very quiet and soft spoken, but not when it came to that handyman! He threatened him, and fired his butt. It's still a nightmare to me, but it finally got resolved, thank you, Jesus! Take that paycheck and buy yourself a small present. You deserve it, right?!?!?

And you can bet that if they open the box and the light is broken they won’t charge you to come back out a second time. That would be on HD to pay. Just call them and ask them and let them know what happened with the guy that came out to a broken light and ask them to credit you on this new light. I would be raising a fit about it and they might offer to send someone out to install for free. Doesn’t hurt to ask. The answer is always going to be no if you don’t ask. As for Bill, there’s a reason you aren’t still married to him. I’m sorry he’s being such a jerk. You need to just accept the fact that this is the way he is and if he wouldn’t change when you were married to him, he’s not going to change as your tenant. Don’t let him ruin your day! His rent money does not give him the right to treat you poorly and if he thinks it does, I’d raise his rent! Love you Paula! Bean soup and cornbread sounds delicious! Have a bite for me!

Sunday - I'm meeting the head of the Religion program immediately after Mass, so we can review the technology we'll use with the new lessons. 2. We are looking forward to welcoming a new Pastor at Church. 3. The astronauts returned safely 4. Cookie dough which is safe to eat 5. FSF family and friends! I pray for all of you, your families, your friends in my daily prayers... and thank you for praying for me! Maintenance is a forever endeavor!
