runs in families Posted by tiny susie on 16/8/2023, 10:40:22 It says celiacs runs in families,well i was adopted /think it should have been on my adoption medical /birth certificate...the adoption parents get a second birth certificate on having legally adopted a baby.It is only fair for poor children to know about what hereditary illness may sadly come their way..also for the poor parents aho adopted me to know what to feed me.......I feel let down and really angry about not knowing whey I was alays unwell until I was 46 and was then biopsied at Leighton Hospital...if any one deserves to be compensated it is people like myself who were ill all their life until 46 ,for careless medical negligences really feel ever so angry about how badly I have endured terrible mouth ulcers and very unwell all my life, until I was dignosed /started doing strict gluten free diet! Yes and I have every right to be furious about medical mistakes and negligences too!!!! Given all the wrong treatments in the past becuase of medical mistakes and stupidity of those who mal treated me relly /tht's the facts!!!tinysusie

Re: runs in families Posted by tiny susie on 16/8/2023, 10:53:43, in reply to "runs in families" sooalry for few mistakes but the message is still that I endured medical mistakes and gross stupidity when they should hav tested me asa child for celiacs disease and not wait until I nearly died at 46 to discover badly damged guts through not knowing until that late time that I was a celiac I am furious really about it ...the stupid people medically who let me down so very badly and thus wrecked my health and made me suffer all that time of my life wasted in pain illness and terribly bad mouth ulcers all the time..now i never get mouth ulcers since i was diagnosed and well Ivery nealy died until finally diagnosed I call it gtoss medical negligence ...and if any one deserves compensations I think it is me ....but well,hate being greedy and will not fight for it ...and at least now I know what to do, and what was wrong with me......I say my prayers /keep on keeping on now as well ...feel have not only been badly treated.... feel my life was wrecked with rotten health and severe anaemia too ...the least the doctors ect could do is apologise to all those who have endred sharp tongues and misdiagnosis all their blooming lives!!!!tinysusie.

I was diagnosed when I was 50, 31 years ago. To be fair, understanding of Coeliac disease has only become more or less common knowledge over the last few years, I had never heard of it when I was diagnosed, nor did I know that some other family (cousins) members were sufferers, non of my siblings have it nor my children so whilst it is hereditary it is by no means certain that it will pass on, I'm sure my parents would have had no knowledge of what it was all about. Try to look on the positive side Susie, it is widely understood these days and the availability of GF foods is beyond all comparison to how it was 30 years ago. All the best. Bill D.

Not knowing your history or age but I guess you are talking at least 50-60 years ago when diagnosis for C.D was quite rare and like Bill and myself our C.D was not found until we were around 50 and I expect your birth mother was many years younger and yet to be diagnosed when you were born and only found out a lot later in life. At the time were the doctors aware that C.D was heredity because as you mentioned you have not passed it on. Many on this site were diagnosed later in life, and you cannot change the past but you can make the best of your future.
