That’s a very good question — the availability of gluten-free Christmas cakes and mince pies at ALDI seems to vary a lot by country and by year, which is probably why it was harder to find them last season.
Here’s what I found, plus tips you can try:
🔍 What I found out
In the UK, gluten-free Christmas baked goods (cakes, mince pies) used to appear in ALDI’s seasonal range. But in recent years, the “free from” bakery offerings have become more limited. Several gluten-free bloggers say ALDI currently doesn’t have its own branded gluten-free mince pies or Christmas cakes in many stores. The Gluten Free Blogger +1
The Coeliac UK “ALDI Christmas Product List” includes some items that are “suitable for a gluten free diet,” which suggests that ALDI may stock some gluten-friendly seasonal products. Coeliac UK
One note: many of ALDI’s Christmas ranges are labeled “accidentally gluten-free” (i.e. they don’t claim “gluten free” but the ingredient list is clear) rather than being produced in a dedicated gluten-free line. The Gluten Free Blogger +1
In 2024, the gluten-free Christmas roundup blog says ALDI UK’s lineup shows improvement in festive options in general — but still, no firm signs of classic gluten-free mince pies or Christmas cakes returning widely. Becky Excell Gluten Free Blog
✅ What you can try
Check closer to Christmas — seasonal items often arrive in the weeks before the holidays.
Visit the “Free From” section (if your ALDI has one) or check bakery shelves for small, labelled items — sometimes they slip in.
Look for “suitable for gluten free diet” labels or the crossed-grain symbol. Always read the full ingredient list — “may contain” warnings are common with baked goods.
Ask staff or store manager whether their ALDI is getting any special “Gluten Free Christmas” orders this year.
Alternative: make your own — since you know you like ALDI’s cake texture, you might try a gluten-free Christmas cake recipe (there are many good ones online).
Check competing stores or dedicated gluten-free/bakery shops early — they might bring in imported or specialty gluten-free Christmas goods.
I haven't seen any either and nothing came up when I tried searching their website. They don't seem to have any interest in gf which is annoying.
I've seen gf mince pies and xmas puddings in several places but only seen a gf xmas cake in M&S. I think that was the same last year apart from somewhere doing tiny cake slices. Has anyone else seen cakes?
Sainsbury's had one last year although those on my local store did not look very good. None in their today so picked one up from M&S. Had 10% off cakes on the M&S app Sparks offers so saved 50p.
Thanks. The M&S one is nice. I've already eaten one this year and I'll probably buy another unless I get one somewhere else for a bit of variety.
It used to be relatively easy to get gf fruit cake all year but now I only ever see them for Christmas which is a pest as I like fruit cake but am too lazy to make my own!
