I chose the new Tibaldi Bononia:
I wanted to take better pictures, but the battery in my camera is on its last leg and won’t hold a charge. So it was snap a few photos and then quick, upload to the computer before I lose them. Charge battery and repeat until I got something acceptable.
The pen! I love the refined elegance in the ribbons of pearlescent resin. Gorgeous shades of olive green glimmer softly in the light as my hand moves across the page. These subtle changes in color are calming rather than distracting from the writing process.
The pen is exactly what I had hoped for. Mine has a Fine steel nib that writes perfectly. A huge selling point for me was the ebonite feed, as I do believe ebonite holds ink better and helps with the flow. The converter is threaded, which has become a preference for me. This pen will go well with brown, blue, green, or black ink. I chose Aurora Black for its first fill.
The only thing I wish Tibaldi had done differently with this new Bononia is in the design of the section. The pen would be perfect had they placed the threads for the cap at the end of the section near the nib like the original from the 1990s rather than at the lip of the barrel. This is not to say the threads at the barrel interfere in any way with one’s grip, as they are smooth and innocuous. I just think that was a distinguishing feature of the original, and would have made this new introduction more worthy of its name and its price point. That said, the pen is really lovely and a great writer! I’m very happy.
