I agree Mary's crown looked too tall and even worse the dark purple of the cap of maintenance and the size of it made the Queen's crown look too big and uncomfortable.

oh yes I agree, it looked out of proportion to The Kings crown. I wonder why he didn’t have the arches of the Imperial Crown restored to his his grandfather George VI had them. Previous Message

In 1953 Queen Elizabeth had the Imperial State Crown modified: the arches lowered because the version worn by her father in 1937 was too tall. Queen Camilla wore Queen Mary's crown from 1911 with some of the arches taken off to make it lighter but it seems the jeweller was not requested to lower the arches to match the Imperial State Crown. To me Camilla's Crown looked just as tall or even taller than the Imperial State Crown. Any thoughts?
