The story goes that the nuns who had received the tiara sold the emeralds and rubies and replaced them with paste stones before selling the piece to Franco so it could be presented to Fabiola. That would only make the aquamarines real.
As the tiara has not been seen for so long in a monarchy with very few jewels it's unlikely it still is with a member of the Belgian Royal Family.

This ducal coronet was a wedding gift from the wife of Franco.
It has interchangable emeralds, rubies and aquamarines.

Perhaps fake rubies…. But I would love to see the crown worn by Queen Mathilde.
