Queen Mary (what a lovely jewellery-lover name! ) was definitely elegant, and did not disappoint in terms of jewels, even in a context in which no substantial glitter was expected.
The new King did not wear the gem-studded breast stars of the Danish orders, but "only" the normal metal brest stars.
Princess Isabella wore Queen Alexandrine's triangle pearl brooch with the conch pearl pendant, which was a christening present from Queen Alexandrine to Queen Margrethe in 1940, and from Queen Margrethe to Princess Isabella in 2007:
