The collar of the Order of St. Olav is very seldome worn. I believe even King Harald and Crown Prince Haakon wear it only for the opening of the Storting.
And if i recall it right it was also given to King Willem-Alexander a few years ago but he did not wear it for the State Banquet

The website of the Royal Family confirms the same when announcing that the Collar of the Order of St Olav was conferred to King Frederik on 14th May. Also, when looking at the photo from the gift exchange it is possible to spot the Collar in its case at the right of the photo:

Orders are always exchanged in the beginning of a state visit - so everybody can wear their new orders at the first gala banquet... so I am sure the chain/collar was given in the beginning of day 1
