I wonder if it’s the lighting? Some of the court events in Asian countries feature this kind of bright lighting, instead of soft candles or indirect lighting.
For example court events in Japan, very brightly lit and with the polished wood floors and plain walls one feels almost as if it were a gymnasium!

I know there has been a discussion about this before.
But the jewels seems very bright or cleaned as if treated chemically.
I think they somehow loose their sparkle. But I guess it is a matter of taste.
